Nela View Road Tree Watering

In the fall of 2022, Heights Tree People partnered with the City of Cleveland Heights and Start Right CDC to plant dozens of new trees in the Caledonia neighborhood on Nela View Road. In addition to the trees we planted during our 2023 Arbor Day Celebration at Caledonia Elementary School, this is a total investment of 54 new trees in the Caledonia neighborhood, which lacks a strong tree canopy and the benefits it brings.

We want to ensure that this intensive neighborhood tree-canopy revitalization takes root and endures. Making sure a newly planted tree gets the water it needs during its first hot summer in the ground is critical for helping it thrive for decades to come. So we came up with a plan to get these young trees watered during the summer months of 2023.

We will purchase a 250-gallon water tank, rent a truck, and pay a neighborhood resident to water these young trees every week. The City of Cleveland Heights will donate the water for this project. We are funding this project through the generous donations of our community supporters (like you!) and a FutureHeights Mini-Grant.

To support the Nela View Road Tree Watering Project, you can donate through our fiscal partner, FutureHeights. At the dropdown menu, designate the donation for “Partner Organization-Heights Tree People” and then dedicate the donation for “Caledonia Tree Watering.”
