What We Do
Heights Tree People is dedicated to:
Planting and caring for trees in our neighborhoods as an act of love.
Sharing knowledge and advocating for an enduring tree culture.
Increasing the health, vitality, and happiness of our local habitat and planet.
Heights Tree People is a volunteer organization working primarily in Cleveland Heights and University Heights. The majority of our work is supplying and planting trees in residents’ front yards for FREE.
When you request a tree from us:
We will contact you to set up a time for a site evaluation.
At your site evaluation, our volunteer Tree Steward will determine an appropriate tree species and location in your yard. If you don’t want the species we recommend, we’re always open to suggestions! (There are some tree species we won’t plant for ecological reasons.) We then put a stake in the ground to mark where the tree will go so we can find the spot easily when we return to plant.
We order the tree.
When the tree is ready for planting, we will notify you when we have scheduled your tree planting with our Tree Steward. Due to limited scheduling windows with our Tree Stewards, we are not able to coordinate scheduling with your schedule. But, of course, we hope you are able to be present for the planting.
We arrive at your home to plant, mulch, and cage (for deer protection) your new tree. At that time, if your are available, we will also instruct you on effective care and watering methods. If you are not home, we will leave the care information at your front door.
